Overview

The 2011 sailing season welcomed Viking Prestige, building upon the standard set by the extraordinary Viking Legend that launched in 2009. The ship carries 188 guests on some of our most popular itineraries. Our state-of-the-art ship boasts two 337-square-foot suites and 97 staterooms, with French Balcony Staterooms on the Upper and Middle Decks and Standard Staterooms with picture windows on the Main Deck. Recognized as a “Top River Cruise Ship” in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Poll, this vessel features public spaces bathed in light, with imaginative and innovative features such as the Observation Lounge with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and the indoor-outdoor Aquavit Terrace®, located at the bow of the ship and perfect for al fresco dining. Best of all, Viking Prestige is a green ship, running on hybrid engines that produce less vibrations for a smoother ride. With its cutting-edge design, unparalleled comfort and eco-friendly features, Viking Prestige has it all.

Ship Highlights

Below is a sampling of some of the exciting features found aboard this ship.

Observation Lounge

The heart of the ship, the Observation Lounge is where friends meet for a drink and lectures take place. The Observation Lounge boasts floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead to an open-air Aquavit Terrace, an outdoor seating area at the bow of the ship where you can enjoy a casual meal al fresco, meet friends for drinks or read a book, all while enjoying breathtaking views and basking in the fresh air.

Restaurant

The restaurant is where all meals are served during your cruise. Because it features panoramic windows, you will not miss any of the scenery while you are dining. It seats 188 guests at tables which vary in size to accommodate larger or smaller parties. The dining room is open seating, so you are free to sit where you like, a great way to make new friends. The atmosphere is casual but elegant, with high-quality table linens, china, cutlery and glassware. Guests particularly enjoy the extensive breakfast buffet; choose cereals, breads, meats, eggs, fruits, yogurts, or try a made-to-order omelet from the cooking station.

Reception/Atrium

Reception Lobby
The atrium is a large, airy space with a grand staircase to the upper lobby and direct access to the restaurant. The middle deck lobby is where you enter the ship, and serves as your information center throughout your voyage. Your Program Director’s desk is located here, so that you can easily ask questions or discuss the day’s activities. There is a public address system to announce events; there are also restrooms and an onboard boutique.

Atrium/Seating Area
The upper part of the grand atrium features a spacious, comfortable seating area and large panoramic windows, so you can relax, read or watch the scenery go by. There is a 24-hour tea and coffee station with a fruit basket, and some showcases displaying items available at the onboard boutique just downstairs. The middle deck reception lobby is directly accessible via the grand staircase.
