2-night pre-extension - $499 per person
Day 1
Arrive in Basel, then transfer to the deluxe Hilton (or similar).* Relax or begin exploring the city a bit on your own.
Day 2
This morning you have a panoramic tour of Basel’s architectural highlights (you will have a more in-depth city tour during your cruise itinerary). We then proceed to visit one of the city’s leading art museums, either the Kunstmuseum, which focuses on paintings and drawings of the region and possesses the world’s leading collection of Holbeins, or the Beyeler Foundation, a modern art collection housed in a glorious Renzo Piano–designed structure that is a piece of art in and of itself. Return to your hotel, then take the rest of the day to relax, explore another museum and sample some of Basel’s delightful restaurants and nightlife. (B)
Day 3
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and enjoy the day in Basel—take a walk around the city center or visit one or two of the city’s museums on your own. We will take you to embark your ship; other river cruise guests will be arriving this afternoon and evening, and dinner is served aboard as part of your cruise itinerary. (B)
