Shibaozhai Temple (Precious Stone Fortress) is a gem of Chinese architecture. Built during the Qing Dynasty in 1650, the 12-story wooden pagoda was originally perched on a sheer cliff towering over the Yangtze River. Now, with the completion of the Three Gorges Dam project, the water has risen and the temple is alongside the river.
