UPDATE – August 4, 2014

Recently portions of the Danube River experienced water levels that were lower than usual. The levels have since risen and all of our itineraries on the Danube are operating as scheduled.

During the period of low water, Viking employed “ship switches” in order to maintain sailings with minimal disruption. Sister ships are strategically deployed in opposite directions on the same itinerary so that should a situation such as this arise, we may simply switch guests to the sister ship in order to continue beyond the impassable portions of the rivers. While all ships are sailing, some remain on the reverse itinerary.

Guests who will embark on a sister ship, instead of their original ship, have received an email alerting them of the change and that they will check-in to the same comfortable stateroom that they reserved on their original ship. Travel Agents of these guests have also been contacted by email. Aside from the different ship, we anticipate no other changes to these itineraries.

If you have any questions, please call Customer Relations at 1-877-668-4546, extension 4525, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., PDT.

Other guests scheduled to sail in the coming weeks should assume that their cruise is anticipated to take place as originally planned.
